Lent!

So tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I am excited and nervous. Really the entire mixed feelings thing you get before a new ride at the amusement park sort of feelings. It is a great time of year. I however seem to run into more and more Christians that haven't a clue what Ash Wednesday is let alone Lent for that matter. Quit sad really. Surely every one who's a Christian knows about Christ entering and wandering the desert for 40 days and nights to be temped by Satan. There is a great significance to the enter situation. Yet more and more Christian do not know. This all happened before his ministry to us all. To deprive ones body of what we see as a basic necessity and instead to get on your knees and pray. This is a difficult sort of discipline. Of course most people can not jump right into 40 days with out food and only water. It is a great thing for a Christian to do. Try it. I dare you. Just go 4 or 5 days with only water. Pray anytime you feel "hunger" or are tempted to eat. See what happens. I guarantee you will see a change in yourself. The point of it all is to realign your soul, your mind towards god. To allow you to actually listen to his words that are spoken to you, when they are spoken to you or when you read them. Maybe even out of no where or in a dream. Take a look at what Christ said. He said "WHEN you fast" NOT "IF you fast" it is expected of us. Why? Well it keeps us close to our lord and savior. It keeps us further away from the evil that surrounds us. Even the mundane daily life can suck your soul and pull you away from god. Yes even if you attend church religiously every Sunday. I promise you that if you fast just this once for at least 3 days you will see something change inside you. Only water. No food. Also you don't go blabbering it out for all to know. This is between you God and the Evil around us. We are IN this world NOT of it. Don't forget to pray when tempted or feeling thy hunger. God will guid you. Good luck.
